ANDROID PATCH!
Hi again!
Okay, so despite best efforts it seems that although Windows, Linux and Mac are all working correctly (for the most part. There are still a couple small bugs)... Android isn't. I won't bore everyone with the explanation, but what it boils down to is:
Gremlins.
Seriously, that's all I can think of. Fortunately, thanks to the tireless efforts of Chris, we have a solution. It's not elegant, but it's the only thing that works right now. Just follow these steps:
- Download the patch file below
- Extract the zip file to a new folder anywhere on your device (https://support.google.com/files/answer/9048509?hl=en)
- Copy the entire "game" folder that you just unzipped
- Go to Android/data/com.domain.corruptedkingdoms/files
- Paste "game" folder there
And that's it! Now your game will work properly without crashing.
NOTE: If you're running Android 11+ then Google has hidden your data folder. To access it you need to connect your phone to your PC with a USB cable or use an app like Solid Explorer or X-Plore to give you access to the folder again.
ALSO NOTE: The bug currently affecting Android users is only for cutscenes. If you are already in Act Three then you don't need to worry about any of this, as there are no cutscene files in Act Three.

The patch downloads are gone but the error still happens :(
so i've got no idea where that Android/data/com.domain.corruptedkingdoms/files thing is what do I do
Im so confused what to do. I have Solid Explorer did everything according to the inst. Dragged Corrupted Kingdoms to my data files and shows com.domain file but keeps saying can't use this folder. I guess I'll just wait for the next update. I'm not a tech guy btw so I'm probably doing something wrong.

Wait, does this mean I would have to download the entire game again?. I checked my game version and it seems to be the same as on the download page.
Sorry if it's kinda a stupid question..
If you're on Android, and you downloaded the 0.19.7a upgrade (when you turn on your game, the main screen should show "0.19.7a") then you just need to download this patch and install it as per the instructions above.
If you're on Windows, Mac or Linux then you don't need this patch :)
I did every step but the game still crashed on the bar fight scene, i have all the unzipped videos in a folder in the files section but it doesn't work, any idea where am I making a mistake?
Did you copy the "game" folder that you unzipped to Android/data/com.domain.corruptedkingdoms/files? You need to keep the folder structure the same or it won't work (Ren'py is very picky about where it reads files from).
I completely deleted the comment before because good news, turned out my phone was too dumb too extract zip files correctly so I just installed an app for it and it's working yay! I spent too much time on it lol. :)

Any file explorer app will work - they work the same as on any PC. If your phone doesn't have one, then I recommend downloading Solid Explorer or X-Plore :)

The only real downside to playing these games on Android is that the really, really good ones will amonst invariably reach a point where they can no longer be packaged as an APK due to size. It's kinda ridiculous, honestly. But then, I suspect I'm preaching to the proverbial choir, here.
Yeah, I'm working extremely hard to keep the filesize below 2GB (the cutoff point for apk installation) and PyTom - who creates the SDK I use, Ren'py - is hard at work apparently on a method to allow people to install apks that are larger than that.
So... fingers crossed on both counts!

The file is a .zip so you can definitely unzip it. Are you grabbing it from the links in the post above?
