WEEKLY RELEASE - v0.19.7 - CREATE A CHARACTER APPEARS!
The weekly update has been released!
The Create A Character... Character... is here! Yes, it's time for the grand unveiling of the character that everyone helped build over the course of two whole livestreams! Also, a long-awaited fix to the UI, reverting the textbox size back to the old size, and allowing text to stretch across the full width rather than bunching all up to the right. Plus, a whole buncha bugfixes! I hope you enjoy! :)
NOTE: It's my birthday next week, so I'll be taking two weeks away to spend the time with family and recharge my batteries. And also probably scribbling out scripts and story drafts because I just can't help myself :P
KNOWN ISSUES: Due to the necessity of changing the User Interface some screens (such as the skill, inventory, fighter and crafting screens) haven't had a UI pass and look kinda janky. All this will be fixed in the next few updates, so please bear with me until then. Thank you!
CHANGELOG:
- UPGRADE: The underlying Ren'py SDK has been upgraded to 8.1.1! This should hopefully solve all of the isues people have been having on Android, as well as a number of minor bugs on Windows, Linux and Mac as well! The upgraded version won't work on 32-bit systems, however, so I've added an extra download for Win/Linux users on 32-bit on Patreon and Subscribestar (if you're not sure, then you're almost certainly not on 32-bit and you can just grab the default download)!
- Viola: The new community-created character is finally revealed! Viola Zann! Just head to Lily's bar after the events of 0.19.3 to meet her!
- Viola: After meeting Viola, you can talk to her in the bar and learn a little more about her
- UI: HUGE User Interface refurbishment! Because of the discrepancy between the early game and late game renders, the cutscene bars were causing ugly issues when overlayed by textboxes. Because of this, I have decided to shrink down the new textboxes to better fit the old bars. Along with this change is the following:
- UI: Character titles have been temporarily removed! I have a better idea of how to incorporate them in a more attractive and less forceful way, but I need to polish it a bit, so for now they're hidden
- UI: Prefix "think" and "speech" images are now attached to the start of each dialogue line, so they follow the text rather than occupying a fixed position!
- UI: When no paperdoll (side image) is on the screen, dialogue text will expand to fill the textbox - no more bunching up to the right!
- Misc: Removed the "are you sure you want to..." confirmation when you cancel power or lead usage. Too many clicks!
- Bug: It was possible to try to confront Lily in the evening, resulting in an image error. Now you are forced to let her sleep, you meanies
- Bug: Added a line of code to prevent Jessica from popping up in scenes she isn't supposed to be in. She's just so worried about you!
- Bug: Some of the navigation icons had artifacting, and not the fun green girl kind!
- Bug: Telling Chloe to go to her room for naughty fun with her assassin form kept you in the war room. Now you will move correctly!
- Bug: The Goons were overlapping the text in the train and roadblock maps. They've been told to shuffle a little more to the left
- Bug: The Dread Arc rises from his seat and his form grows to fill the chamber, the shadows themselves seeming to reach out and trail around his gargantuan form, lit only by the flickering light of a single computer screen. Silently, Typo Hero steps forward and raises his sword...

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAYYYYY! I haven't been playing much because MY MENTAL HEALTH HAS BEEN PRETTY, PRETTY BAD, cutting ties off with my dad, mom using my computer to work because her computer is slower, can't risk her finding my stash of secret porn games that I have disguised as ''normal games'', hope she doesn't find those folders.
For what I've seen so far, the new character looks amazing! I'll make sure to play as soon as I get some free time, well, I don't do anything all day, but, you know, emotionally free time, time in which I don't crave arson for anyone.
I hope you get lots of cake, cake is delicious. Which one is your favorite? As always, take care, rest a lot, drink water, which, is something I should also be doing, and don't eat too much, like I did, which ended in me throwing up for seven hours straight, but, alright!

Going NC can be hard, but sometimes it's the only thing you can do and still remain sane. If you ever need to talk about anything - even if it's just favourite flavours of cake - you can always reach out. Just wanted to let you know that.

Oh, and right now? Lemon meringue pie. I know, I know, not a cake, I'm cheating, but my mom makes a killer lemon meringue pie and I'm an ocean away and really craving it ;P
Just before you answered, I had an episode, cried for like an hour.
It’s just that, I’ve been feeling so lonely. With only having three friends, one of them being my ex, who just loves degrading me, still adore him, he’s pretty cool, and the other two replying every five business days.
My mom also makes amazing lemon meringue pies! Though she’s diabetic, and so is my father, so I have a high risk of having it too, not yet, but I can’t have too many sweets.
I really hope you get to see your mom soon, though! Sometimes I tell my mom I’ll die before she does, and she tells me she’ll use an Ouija board just to ground me or something.
She knows about my depression and how the meds make me feel numb for some time, and then I just get sudden breakdowns, but lately it’s been worse. I’ve just felt so lonely, depressed and without the will to do anything.
Still, thank you so much for caring, man, really.
I don't think you can call anyone who degrades you "pretty cool", but that's just me. You should surround yourself with positivity and people who bring you up not pull you down. You deserve better than that.
My mom's diabetic too, actually, so I feel bad asking her to make the lemon meringue pie, haha. I make it up to her by cooking her favourite dinners when I'm around, though.
I've been there with the depression, and I know how small and grey it makes the world. I also know that it's not something you can "snap out of" and there's nothing anyone else can do. This is all on you, as unfair as that is. Take the time you need, do one thing every day that scares you, and know that sunlight and laughter are waiting for you when you're ready.
And keep reminding yourself that this isn't normal. You're not supposed to feel this way, and you won't always. One day you'll look around and realise that the world suddenly got so much bigger, and you can breathe again.
People care about you.
My ex just does it sometimes, but he never means it. Other times he’s extremely sweet, especially when I’m feeling down. He said that if I ever feel like that again, that I have to call him, even if he’s at work, or if it’s three AM for him. Which, I won’t do, I worry about his sleep.
I’m sorry about your mom being diabetic, my mom also loves it when I cook things for her, sometimes she’s too busy to make lunch for the family, so I have to do it, which helps me learn to cook on my own. I’m still too scared to use a match to light the stove, but I’ll get over it.
I think I’m close to convincing one of my friends to play this game, I’ve told him so many good things about it, and he said that as soon as he organizes his things (including his life), he’ll play it.
Last year, during a school trip, I tried to end it all, because I was in so much physical pain and emotional, and the next day, I was called “too emotional” by my teacher, who said I didn’t have depression, and instead I was just too hormonal. When I had been on meds for around a month.
I was kicked out of that school because of my depression, which makes me want to burn things, I had been there all my life, and I get kicked out for being depressed after going through a sexual assault?
I’m sorry for venting, but, I’m feeling better this week. I haven’t spoken to my father in like a month, this time he messed up, like when he hid the fact I had a new brother who was already 50 days old, or when he said “starving would look pretty on you”, when I was only 13.

You have certainly been through a lot, and frankly, you should be proud of the fact that you're still going, and still moving forward! As the man said, "It's not about how hard you can hit. It's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward."
It's none of my business, and you know your own life best, but as someone who's family is deeply involved in people with special needs (across both the physical and mental spectrum) I just want to advise you to look up "love bombing" in relation to your ex. It's your life, of course, and there's nothing worse than an onlooker peering over your shoulder and telling you how to do things, but you seem like a sweet person and that triggers certain habitual protective instincts. I apologise, though, for the liberty.
A lot of people in life are going to tell you how you feel and what's "wrong" with you. Some will be trying to help, others will be trying to tear you down to make themselves feel better about their own lives. In either case, just remember that they're wrong, and that how they feel is not your responsibility.
Though that doesn't really help when they're in positions of power, and use that power to force their opinions on you... which is shameful, really, and they should absolutely be reported to the relevant authorities.
Still, I'm glad you're feeling better, and good luck with pushing past your fear of lighting up the stove! I know you can do it :)

The only negative system impact the upgrade has is that 32-bit systems are no longer supported. Apart from that, the changes should all be positive! The game should run more smoothly, with less load, and features a number of optimisations.
One or two players have also reported that it has fixed some extremely strange and niche bugs they were suffering from, so that's nice too!

And it goes like this: Typo Hero can misspell dangers, and turn them into something else, right? I cannot remember what exactly he has done, and I am too lazy to go back and check. Basically, it is that Typo Hero will misspell Dread Arc as Dead Arc. The end. That's it. That's the end of Typo Hero's story.
I'm hoping for Bread Arc so Typo Hero gets a good meal out of it.
Also I really gotta go back to the start of the weekly updates to read through the beginning of the Typo Hero story.
